Marshall Multi-room
Work - Marshall Group (Zoundindustries)
Year - 2016 to 2018
With a current lineup of existing Bluetooth speakers the Marshall Multi-room speakers needed an upgrade in functionality and also show it visually. We needed a user experience connected to more to the digital connection and visually indicate an "upgrade"

The Marshall design expression has a long history and built on traditional craftsmanship. The challenge consisted of finding the balance in creating a clear enough differentiation between the old Bluetooth range and the upcoming Wi-Fi range while still staying within Marshalls rather strict visual guidelines.

The devil is in the details
Not a massive overhaul but small changes still made a significant differences. A grill cloth more adjusted in tone and warmth for both a the black and cream speaker. A logo in all brass colour. All in all a speaker that is still bold without screaming it out too loud.
Creating a mix between new and old we used the classic knurling pattern on all brass knobs. Giving the top panel a more premium and slightly more modern feel. Taking inspiration from the guitar effect pedal we distinguished the new source knob as not only a new feature but also something that communicated that it could be pressed.
