Urbanears Rålis

Work - Marshall Group (Zoundindustries)
Year - 2016 to 2018

A competent speaker with a great multi-directional sound based on the "Blumlein technique". A speaker that is more of a  flexible speaker than portable. More directed to the scenario of moving it around the home than always be handy in the tote bag.

Concept idea - Part of a system

The initial idea was to introduce the speaker together with an flexible and open system that would connect the rest of Urbanears speaker and headphone products. By implementing NFC in the speaker (and future headphones) we could create a seamless transition of moving the BT connection between them by just "knocking" them together

The speaker also would have easy access for Chromecast audio devices to connect, meaning it could be integrated in the already released wifi-system.

In this time Apple alos decided to use the Qi charger technology as their standard. A technology already used by IKEA and others. We wanted to introduce Qi charger technology for our speaker and headphones as well. Binding the together but also making it possible to charge them on other brands charger. Adding to the flexibility and integration of the products.

Quality and sound

A competent speaker with a great multi-directional sound based on the "Blumlein technique". A speaker that is more of a  flexible speaker than portable. More directed to the scenario of moving it around the home than always be handy in the tote bag.

A minimalistic shape that binds it together with Urbanears wifi speakers. Adding shapes and material that express more of durability and portability but still fitting the home context.
